Big Room Small Voice

Have you ever needed to present in a large boardroom like this, and worried you wouldn’t be heard?

This is when voice projection should come into play. Projection is not shouting. Shouting kills credibility and potentially makes you sound shrill. But, a voice that projects has resonance and thus authority.

Here’s what to do:

1️⃣  Sit at the front of your chair. This will force your back to straighten and ensure your posture is upright and chest is open.

2️⃣  Breathe into your stomach area so it inflates like a balloon.

3️⃣  Exhale through your mouth as your stomach deflates.

4️⃣  Do 5 rounds as you slowly fill your lungs with air – we only use 35% of our lung capacity so doing this gets you ready to project.

Now, with an open posture and deeper breathing, you will be primed to speak with a stronger, more dynamic voice, and that will help you to command a big boardroom.
