Cockneys in Tokyo
I couldn’t understand why everyone in my communication skills workshop kept on saying my name with a cockney accent.
These are highly educated Japanese financial executives, so I was quite surprised.
I would politely correct them but could see their confusion.
Tidying up I realised why. My name card had been facing them not me.
