Don’t Go Changing!

I love this Harvard Business Review article as it highlights the potential negative effects of trying to be someone you’re not.

Public speaking for introverts is sometimes nerve-racking, and I see that when working with clients who have been made to present, rather than want to present.

From experience coaching these people, this additional level of stress comes from a belief that they have to be a certain sort of way, to ‘perform’.

But I always say don’t try to fundamentally change who you are. If you are more introverted, then that’s great. Embrace it.

I work with people to push them out of their comfort zone but focus on authenticity. That alleviates the pressure, and the communication then flows naturally.
